United Kingdom

The United Kingdom is a highly developed capitalist country and one of the four major economies in Europe, boasting a high standard of living and a robust social security system. It is also a popular destination for international students, home to many world-renowned universities such as the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford, making it an ideal choice for those seeking to study or immigrate. As of 2024, the UK passport ranks fifth globally, allowing visa-free access to 190 countries and regions.

Skilled Worker Visa

This visa is suitable for professionals, particularly those in shortage occupations such as mechanical engineers and IT personnel.

Visa Requirements

The Skilled Worker Visa operates on a points-based system, requiring applicants to achieve at least 70 points to meet the visa application criteria.

  1. Job Offer: Applicants must have a job offer from a certified employer.

  2. Salary Requirements: The minimum salary is £38,700, though different occupations have varying salary standards. Some occupations may have higher salary requirements, and applicants must meet the higher of the two standards. (Certain exemptions may apply; for more details, refer to the article on "Latest Requirements for UK Work Visas in 2024.")

  3. English Proficiency: Candidates are required to pass an English language test.

Student Visa

International students planning to study in the UK for more than six months must apply for a Level 4 Student Visa before departure. There are two categories of student visas: the Child Student Visa for ages 4 to 17, and the General Student Visa for those aged 18 and over. The type of visa depends on the school and course type; details can be found in the valid Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) issued by the institution.
