South Korea has a long and illustrious history, deeply rooted in its rich cultural traditions. In recent years, the rapid global expansion of Korean popular culture—especially in music, film, and fashion—has drawn immense attention from international audiences. This cultural prominence has not only made South Korea a global cultural hotspot but also a top choice for immigration. As of 2024, South Korea's passport ranks second globally, allowing visa-free access to 193 countries and regions.

 

South Korea Skilled Worker Immigration


South Korea’s work visa system is designed to attract professionals from various fields. There are seven main types of visas for skilled workers:


  1. Professor Visa (E1)

Applicable to teaching staff at higher education institutions. Initial validity 5 years & renewable.


  1. Foreign Language Instructor Visa (E2)

Designed for foreign language teachers. Initial validity 2 years & renewable.


  1. Research Visa (E3)

This is for natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, arts, and sports researchers. Initial validity 5 years & renewable.


  1. Technology Industry Visa (E4)

For technical professionals providing specialized guidance in designated industrial fields. Initial validity 5 years & renewable.


  1. Professional Industry Visa (E5)

For individuals working in professional fields such as law, accounting, or medicine. Initial validity 5 years & renewable.


  1. Arts and Entertainment Visa (E6)

For those engaged in sports, the arts, or performances in hospitality and entertainment venues. Initial validity 2 years & renewable.


  1. Special Talent Visa (E7)

Based on a points system. Initial validity 3 years & renewable.

 

South Korea Investment Immigration


Foreign nationals can gain residency status through investment programs.


Application Requirements


  1. Be at least 18 years old with no criminal record.

  2. No requirements for language proficiency, education, work experience, or business background.

  3. Invest ₩1.5 billion in government-designated investment products.

  4. No proof of funds source is required.

  5. Obtain an F-2 visa, valid for 3 years (renewable for another 3 years).

  6. Maintain continuous investment for 5 years, after which the principal is returned interest-free.

  7. No residency requirement; however, absences exceeding 1 year are not permitted.

  8. Applications are approved immediately, with the F-2 visa issued within 10 days at the fastest.


Optional: Premium Investment


Investors who commit ₩3 billion can directly obtain an F-5 visa (permanent residency) Initial validity is 10 years & renewable for 10 years.

 

South Korea Startup Immigration


Foreign entrepreneurs can gain residency by investing foreign capital in Korean businesses or establishing new companies to engage in profitable activities.


Application Requirements


  1. Minimum investment of ₩100 million, with at least 10% ownership of the company.

  2. Investment targets must either be an existing Korean business or a new company established by the applicant in South Korea.

  3. No requirements for education, language proficiency, or prior business experience; no parent company in the home country is necessary.

  4. Spouses and children of the applicant are eligible for residency rights.

  5. After 5 years of operation, meeting specific conditions allows for application to an F-5 visa (permanent residency).
