Canada | Provincial Nominee Program

Client J, 34 years old, has 8 years of experience in information technology. He previously applied for Canadian Express Entry under the Federal Skilled Worker Program. Although he qualified to enter the pool based on his points, his Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was below 400 and he did not receive an invitation to apply (the average CRS score at the time exceeded 440). As a result, he approached us for alternative immigration solutions.
He expressed interest in immigrating through the Prince Edward Island (PEI) Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), which requires a CAD 150,000 investment in a business. This program does not mandate hiring local employees or meeting revenue targets, and after one year, applicants can apply for permanent residency. However, Client J revealed that he has relatives in Vancouver and plans to settle there after immigrating. Considering PEI’s requirement to live and operate a business locally, relocating to Vancouver later would likely result in additional costs and inconvenience. Therefore, we recommended that he apply for the British Columbia (BC) PNP instead.
Given Client J's IT background, we utilized our Canadian network to find him a suitable employer. Eventually, a local food delivery platform hired him to improve its delivery network system and provided a job offer. We quickly applied for his work permit and assisted him in relocating to Vancouver for work and settlement.
After accumulating one year of full-time work experience in BC, we helped him apply for the BC PNP. Within three months, he successfully received an invitation, which increased his CRS score by 600 points. Subsequently, he secured permanent residency in Canada, completing the entire process in approximately eight months.
There are many ways to immigrate, but each program has its pros and cons. The "fastest and easiest" route may not always be the most advantageous for every client.
