Taiwan | Work Residency Visa

In mid-2020, Client K contacted us, planning to immigrate to Taiwan through the investment migration pathway. As an experienced pastry chef, he aimed to continue working in his field by opening a dessert shop or managing a business trading baking ingredients. However, concerned about cash flow issues, he sought our advice regarding business operation considerations and recommendations.

During the consultation, we not only addressed his questions about the entrepreneurial process and Taiwan’s dessert market but also learned that Client K was currently employed at an international five-star hotel, which also has a branch in Taipei. Based on this, we suggested he apply for an internal transfer with his employer and enter Taiwan first using a work residency visa. From there, he could gradually apply for permanent residency and eventually naturalization (within as little as five years). This approach had the advantage of minimizing immigration costs while providing a stable income to support daily life and giving him time to understand the local market before starting his own business.

Fortunately, Client K’s professional expertise and excellent interpersonal skills earned strong support from his employer. Within two to three months, the company assisted him in completing the transfer arrangements and visa application. The multinational corporation’s backing also successfully convinced the immigration authorities, demonstrating that Client K could bring unique value to the local market. Ultimately, he entered Taiwan successfully earlier this year, starting a new life with his family.

We are delighted to have helped our client achieve his immigration dream. This also reflects Oceanus Strategic guiding philosophy of “thinking in detail, strategizing with a broad vision,” and our commitment to putting client needs first.
